Thomas Blaeschke honored by the State of California

Being guest at an event of Silicon Valley Cyber Lions Club on April 4, 2026, Thomas was invited to be seated at the table of current State Treasurer Fiona Ma who was just winning the primary elections on the side of the Democrats to run for Lieutenant Governor of California in November 2026.

Suddenly he was asked to come on stage. There he received from Fiona Ma a recognition of the State of California for his “Outstanding Musical Contributions”.

Thomas thanked but also pointed out that it is also the Team of Voice Over Piano and even Bremer Musical Company in Germany who are the foundation of his works, especially Sara Dähn as a longtime friend and singer, as well as the members of the band like drummer Mark Wetjen, bassist Stephan Werner, guitar players Frederic Drobnjak and Klaus Heuermann or the violin section lead by Silke Mundt, no to forget the singers and friends on stage Diana Skavronskaya and Alexander Hohler.

Thomas promised also in future to support also welfare organization like Lions, Rotary and many 501(3)c´s as in the past to help helping those in need.

Thomas was organizing diverse concerts in the Bay Area in 2023 together with his Band Voice Over Piano and star singer Sara Dähn. They also gave three concerts for good causes and donated some thousand dollars to the Maui Restore project of the Silicon Valley Cyber Lions Club and the Legacy Through Giving Foundation.

Thomas as the conductor got an honorable Certificate of Honor of the City of San Francisco handed over by Aaron Peskin, President of the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco.

USA tour in March 2023 extremely successful – performance for California’s Minister of Finance/State Treasurer Fiona Ma / performance at the UN evening event at LDUN in New York / $ 6,000 donation for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

It started with a performance request for a UN evening event on the occasion of the Lions Day of the United Nations on March 3rd, 23 in New York and developed into a small tour in San Francisco – with mega-cool results.

Thomas “of course” had a piano with him and Voice Over Piano was prepared for the performance at Fiona Ma’s

But from the beginning: the planned performance on March 3rd with one (1) rock & pop performance within a program filled with top-class colleagues (opera singers from the Met and Carnegie Hall) went so well (the audience kept shouting: “we want more”) that we spontaneously added two additional performances.

The days that followed were invitations and talks about the future (partly great things, but not yet ready for a decision).

The Solicon Valley Cyber Lions Club had already heard about our NY commitment in advance and asked if we could “just” travel on to San Francisco – this is where we last had concerts before Covid19 in 2019 (also in Sacramento, Placerville etc. ). After the confirmation, Thomas Blaeschke was commissioned to plan the music for a concert in aid of the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria for March 12th, 2023 as concert director – he got down to it immediately with only three weeks time and provided the artists, including opera singers again (Diana Karskovskaya, Russia), who happened to have already performed in Carnegie Hall, together – including a singer with Turkish roots as a homage to the actual theme of the evening. Thomas accompanied Diana on several pieces on the piano and Voice Over Piano rocked with her program with Sara Dähn and Thomas afterwards.

The result: $ 6,000 for a good cause.

But now for the extension of the tour: as soon as it was known that VOP was coming, you were invited to the birthday party by California Treasury Secretary Fiona Ma and were asked to perform there as well. One became three – like in New York 🙂 Fiona’s brother said after the performance: “You stole the show!” – how cool is that?!

Incidentally, Fiona manages the 5th largest economy in the world with 2 trillion US dollars; she also announced two days after her birthday that she will be running for vice governor in 2026.

And all of this meant that while Sara had to fly back to Europe, Thomas had to stay an extra week because they want VOP back at events as early as October 2023.
